Take your writing seriously. We do.

Writers At Work is a creative writing studio in Silver Lake. We offer ongoing workshops, manuscript review and creative consultations to writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and dramatic forms. Founder Terry Wolverton has over 40 years’ experience working with writers like you as an instructor, editor, coach and independent publisher.

Our workshops are ongoing to provide long-term support for the development of writers and writing projects. Members of the workshop benefit from a community of writers which can improve accountability, and who provide encouragement, share writing resources and celebrate publications, readings and other successes.

We teach literary skills and provide constructive feedback that honors the intentions of each writer. We also think about the long-term development of writers, attending to your process and assisting you to articulate and achieve your goals.

Workshops and Consultations

Admission is by Application with a work sample.

A writing workshop can be the difference between talking about writing and regularly getting words down on the page. Finding the right workshop is not easy, however. I poked around through a few meet-up writing groups but ultimately settled on Terry Wolverton's Writers at Work. Why? I wanted a focused, high-level discussion of writing, with clear, useful feedback. Terry Wolverton's workshops offer all those things (and some things I didn't know I needed).
